Note: Meeting walruses in the short surface break between our dives was probably the most extraordinary animal encounter of my life. The very curious young individual approached me many times and let to observe himself for nearly half an hour. He (it was most probably a young male) was the size of our rubber boat so believe me that it was very, very exciting… he did not show any signs of fear of a man.
